NAMOW was established in response to the ongoing struggles faced by BAME LGBTQ+ women in the United Kingdom. Since our inception, we have dedicated ourselves to providing a haven for BAME LGBTQ+ women without support or assistance. Although numerous organisations extend support to women, we recognise that many BAME LGBTQ+ women, particularly those fleeing their home countries due to their sexual orientation and gender identity, often do not feel secure or adequately supported in such environments. Currently, we are among the organisations in London that offer support to BAME LGBTQ+ women impacted by immigration challenges and social isolation through our tailored programs. We do this by facilitating community-wide engagement with religious leaders, frontline professionals, policymakers, media and the general public.
